I attended City Hospital 3/3/21 for a Subacromial Decompression. I have a fear of needles and was extremely anxious before the operation. Mr Wijeratna sat down with me beforehand and talked me through the process which really eased my anxiety. He explained everything very clearly and answered a couple of questions I had in a way i could understand. I explained about my needle phobia which he explained to his excellent team who managed this extremely well and made me as comfortable as possible. Healing well and so glad I’ve had my shoulder sorted.
Mr Malin Wijeratna has been outstanding. He has taken great care of me, and has done an amazing job. He knew I wanted to go hiking in Pakistan in Aug this Yr, and he did his utmost to operate on me before the end of 22, to give me enough time to get fit. He had a cancellation in early Dec 22, and called me immediately, and got me in theatre one week later. My shoulder replacement went really well, and my old pains are all gone. A special mention to his secretary as well, who kept me up to date with everything. Thanks so much both of you.
Mr Wijeratna during consultations was very clear and concise. Booked me in to surgery, follow up consultations and physiotherapy very fast. Detailed every step of surgery and asked if I had any questions. Very professional
Mr Wijeratna carried out a reverse shoulder replacement for me four weeks ago. His knowledge and skill is exemplary and he totally reassured me that I was making the right decision by going ahead as I was quite nervous about it. Following surgery he came to see me and explained exactly what he had done during the operation so I fully understood it. Prior to my consultation I had no idea that shoulder replacement was even an option. My pain is massively reduced and my movements are improving weekly. I could not be happier with the outcome. Getting a good night's sleep is still a challenge but I know it is still very early days and I reckon things can only get better. Mr Wijeratna and your team, I cannot thank you enough.
From start to finish of my shoulder repair, Mr Wijeratna was superb. being in the building trade he fitted in my surgery to suit me. He explained everything in a manner that I understood and was very informative meaning i didn’t have to ask questions. He made me feel at ease at all times even on the morning of the surgery. I would thoroughly recommend anyone with a shoulder condition to contact this down to earth brilliant surgeon.
Mr Wijeratna was very understanding of my issue and correctly diagnosed my problem virtually straight away which filled me with Confidence. The surgery he carried out was very precise and professional .. and the aftercare, advice and information he gave me regarding healing time etc was very accurate. Recovery has been very good and I am able to train and live a life that I wasn't able too for a long time. Thank you so much.
I was operated on, to replace my left shoulder joint, in October of this year. From my first appointment I had great confidence in Mr Wijeratna. He listened to what I had to say, asked relevant questions and was reassuring as to the success of the procedure whilst at the same time outlining possible difficulties. The operation has been a great success. despite being possibly one of Mr Wijeratna’s older patients i have recovered very quickly thanks to the skill of him and his team. I can only offer my grateful and heartfelt thanks to them all.
I was referred with acute pain in my shoulder, Mr Wijeratna listened to my description of the situation carefully, sent me for an x-ray (which was so quick and Lisa was really friendly and put me at ease), and then diagnosed the issue and offered treatment options clearly and without using jargon. I opted for a steroid injection and it provided immediate relief. After a few days I had more movement and was able to progress through physio exercises. At a follow-up appointment 2 months later I was greeted warmly and sent straight through for another x-ray. All seems to be improving nicely so I have been discharged, can't recommend Malin or the Spire at Tollerton highly enough. Their covid-19 precautions were also very effective, including a phone call the day before my appointments to check for any symptoms.
